What are orbs?
In astrology, an orb refers to the range of degrees within which an aspect between two celestial bodies is considered effective. Aspects are specific angular relationships between planets, and they influence how the energies of these planets interact.
The orb defines how exact the angle is. A tighter orb means the aspect is more precise, and thus its influence is considered stronger. A wider orb means the angle is less exact, which can weaken the aspect’s effect.
For example, if two planets form a trine (120° angle), the aspect might still be considered valid even if the angle deviates slightly, such as at 118° or 122°. The range in which this aspect is still effective is the orb. Different astrologers use slightly different orbs, but a common range is between 5 to 10 degrees.
