Human Design Business Consultant

Welcome back to The Pulse on Human Design! Today, we’re diving into one of the most crucial topics for entrepreneurs: investing in yourself. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in business for years, your personal growth directly impacts your business success. This episode is a must-listen if you’ve ever found yourself hesitating to invest in coaching, mentorship, or even in your own well-being.

Vickie Dickson is here to remind us that your business will never outgrow you. If you want to reach those six or seven figures in your business, you have to grow alongside it. Let’s explore why investing in yourself is non-negotiable and how you can start doing it today.

Why You Must Invest in Yourself

First things first, your business can’t thrive if you’re not consistently growing. Vickie lays it out clearly: “The better you become, the more your business will thrive.” Whether it’s knowledge, mindset, or the relationships you build, it all comes back to investing in yourself. Let’s break down why this is crucial:

  • Knowledge is Power
The world is constantly evolving, and if you’re not learning and growing, you’re falling behind. As Vickie says, “You need to stay ahead of the curve with the knowledge and skills that will move your business forward.” This isn’t about taking random courses; it’s about staying sharp in areas like marketing, sales, and leadership to keep your business competitive.
  • Mindset is Your Greatest Asset
Your mindset can make or break your success. As entrepreneurs, we embrace challenges and know that failure is part of the journey. But to keep going, especially when things get tough, you need to develop a killer mindset. “It takes resilience and agility to navigate the challenges with confidence,” Vickie reminds us.
  • You Attract What You Are
If you want to uplevel your business, you have to uplevel yourself first. Vickie stresses the importance of surrounding yourself with people who challenge you to be better. “We are the sum of the five people we spend the most time with,” she says. So, who are you spending time with? Are they lifting you up and pushing you to grow?

Four Key Areas to Invest In

Now that you know why investing in yourself is critical, let’s talk about how you can do it. Vickie breaks down four key areas where you can start making smart investments in your personal and professional growth:

  • Education and Skills
Take courses, attend seminars, read books, and listen to podcasts that sharpen your skills. But be mindful of “procrasti- learning.” Vickie warns against using learning as a way to delay action in your business. Invest in education, but make sure you’re also delivering value to your clients at the same time.
  • Mentorship and Coaching
There’s a reason why the best coaches in the world always have coaches of their own. A mentor or coach can provide you with the insights and accountability you need to avoid costly mistakes and accelerate your growth. Vickie explains, “It’s like trying to read the outside of the label of a medicine bottle from the inside—you can’t do it!” Having someone on the outside who can see your blind spots is invaluable.
  • Networking and Relationships
Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who can support you and open doors to new opportunities. Vickie reminds us, “It doesn’t matter whether you’re a fourth line in Human Design or not—we all need people.”Collaboration and connections can help you grow in ways you might not even expect.
  • Personal Well-being
In the hustle of building a business, it’s easy to let your health slip. Vickie invites us to remember that “business is a marathon, not a sprint.” Your physical and mental well-being are essential to sustaining success. Take care of yourself, manage stress, and make sure you have the energy and clarity to lead effectively.

The Golden Goose Principle

One of Vickie’s favorite metaphors comes from Denise Duffield Thomas, who talks about the concept of the “golden goose.” In your business, you are the golden goose—the one who generates the ideas, the leadership, and the vision. Vickie shares that when she’s close to burnout, she reminds herself (and her husband!), “We can’t kill the golden goose.”Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s essential for long-term success.

Final Thoughts

“The best investment you’ll ever make is in yourself.” Whether it’s learning, coaching, networking, or self-care, investing in yourself is the key to growing your business and becoming the best version of yourself. Success isn’t just about making money—it’s about becoming the kind of person who can handle the success you’re creating.
So, are you ready to take massive action? Stay relentless, and never stop pushing yourself to the next level—while always honoring your Human Design, of course!
